SMD Technology in Indoor LED Walls

Surface Mount technology (SMT) directly mounts the light-emitting diodes (electronic components) on the printed circuit boards (PCBs). An electronic device manufactured from SMT is called a surface-mount device (SMD). Indoor LED walls is a perfect example of SMD.

SMD in LED

SMD technology is used in manufacturing the indoor LED walls because it offers greater functionality, reduces labor cost, and significantly increases the production time, because fewer drilling holes are required.

The SMD LED is a light- emitting diode, smaller in size and has no pins, and therefore it requires assembly with the help of robotic tools instead of human intervention. The advantage of using SMD LED is that it offers wide viewing angles unlike the standard LED’s hemispherical epoxy that uses a focused beam for displaying the images on the screen.

Advantages of using SMD technology in Indoor LED walls

The SMD LED proves to be stable and better performing in vibration and shake conditions due to the solder joint formation. Moreover, higher component density in a smaller area is achieved, and this indicates the initial production cost is low.

Since electronic circuits can be mounted on both sides of the circuit board, the bonds established by mounting are mechanically stronger and can withstand high amounts of vibration. Additionally, the assembly of the components is easy and can be done at a faster rate. These light-emitting diodes run on low voltage and thus consume less power, which indicates a lower Energy bill for you.
